Community Support Companion
Care and Carriage is looking for reliable, compassionate Community Support Companions to support people with additional needs to safely and confidently manage everyday activities at home and in the community.
This role is about support, reassurance and presence. Transport may form part of the role, but this is not a taxi or private hire position, and it does not involve personal or clinical care.
What you’ll do
- Support individuals during everyday activities such as appointments, shopping and outings
- Provide reassurance, supervision and companionship
- Assist with safe access to vehicles where required
- Help with light, non-personal practical tasks related to the activity
- Act in line with safeguarding principles at all times
What this role is not
- Not personal or clinical care
- Not medication administration
- Not a taxi or private hire driving role
Who we’re looking for
You don’t need to be a qualified carer, but experience in care or support settings is strongly preferred.
This role is well suited to people with experience in:
- domiciliary care or supported living environments
- community support or companionship roles
- working with older adults or people with additional needs
- roles involving supervision, reassurance or wellbeing support
We’re particularly interested in applicants who understand:
- safeguarding and professional boundaries
- supporting people with dignity and patience
- working calmly in unfamiliar or changing situations
While this role does not involve personal or clinical care, experience gained in care settings is highly valuable and will help you succeed as a Community Support Companion.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
- Good communication skills
A Private Hire Licence is not required.
